And if you hadn’t noticed we have been busy.. very busy. Main reason because of that were the two scuba diving courses Angie attended on the island which made her a certified scuba diver and me, a video reporter running around with her on 6 days of intense filming on the surface and underwater.. SO MUCH FUN, but with very little time to spare.
(Angie will tell you more about the scuba diving courses in the next post)
Plus we set ourselves the big and ambitious goal this week of posting not one, not two, but three YouTube vlogs.. yes, we are crazy.
Why? Cause we wanted to catch up on vlogs as more as possible to post a little more in real life, but that also meant that we had breakfast while editing, we had lunch while editing and dinner while editing. Definitely too much, so we’ll keep two vlogs as our magic number 🤣
But speaking of this island instead..
Well upon arrival I was shocked to realise how touristy this island is. Everything is for tourists. Everything works around tourists.
I was glad we had already picked our trusted dive center in town (recommended), cause choosing one would have been a heck of a process. There are so many. The island itself seems to be made for diving. It’s definitely the core economy here along with tourism in general. People fly here from around the world to get their certifications. I’ve never seen something like that.
Even though in the beginning all these things overwhelmed me, this island has grown on me. I felt safe and welcomed. People here are nice and kind. And that’s not something to give for granted in touristy places. Having everything easy to reach was a bliss. Knowing already our dive center everything was straight forward. And being the place touristy also meant for us easy to find vegan options. We had a healthy salad place near the dive center, a cheap Thai stall near the hotel and the hotel itself has great vegan options for breakfast.
So as I’m eating our last vegan breakfast here in our hotel in Koh Tao, I cannot refrain myself from thinking that this stay on this touristy island was actually not that bad. But actually very pleasant. And if in the future we’d want to get more scuba diving licenses, we’d definitely come back.
See you next time, Koh Tao đź‘‹
